DepEd Las Pinas invites Registered Psychologist Michael Jimenez to talk on Teachers & Mental Health

Updated: Jun 11, 2021

Registered Psychologist Michael Jimenez articulated the implication of different stressors in the mental health of the teachers.

Jimenez elaborated on the major causes of teacher stress which are (1) lack of time, (2) poor relationships with colleagues and school leaders, (3) inadequate resources, (4) role conflict and role ambiguity, (5) coping with change, (6) being evaluated by others, and (7) workload(Travers, 2017).

Accordingly, can the challenging behavior from parents lead to teacher stress?

According to Prakke (2007), challenging behaviors from parents can deplete the teacher’s emotional and physical resources, leading to self-doubt, loss of satisfaction from teaching, impulsivity, rigidity or feelings of anger and guilt (Prakke, van Peet, & van der Wolf, 2007).
