BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AWARENESS SEMINAR FOR SPOUSES
Army spouses provide essential support to military families during difficult times. They are the unsung heroes of military life. They provide care and comfort to children, spouses, parents and siblings during times of stress. Hence, many military families turn to the spouses for emotional support. Military spouses are often asked to "do it all", and face unique challenges in balancing their personal lives with military responsibilities. According to military spouses, military culture, frequent deployments, and isolation contribute to the stress they face. Military spouses are also at risk for mental health conditions as a result of their frequent relocations, the significant amount of family support they provide, and the difficulty of balancing work with military life. Hence, this seminar encompassed the social and emotional needs of children and how to enhance relationships in the family. It includes discussions on how to manage stress effectively, ways to maintain a healthy work-life balance, and the importance of self-care.
